Used the bike cam on a DAS run today. Thought I'd hone my editing and spoiling things skills.
He's only ridden about seven hours max on a bike since his CBT five days ago.
He admitted he found learning to ride a bike harder than flying a helicopter (His usual job).

He makes a couple of mistakes, but all in all not bad.
Bike is a CBF 500.
The cam makes things look a LOT closer than they are, and for test, they are taught to ride center line unless it's dangerous.

Your thoughts??

Fifty seven: That's the number of bolts you have to undo in order to get to the clutch on a Triumph Sprint:mad:

First take off the lower fairing, and scratch it as you remove it. Drain the oil into a slightly-too-small container. Then undo some electrical gizmo and leave it hanging in the way for the duration of the job, cos in order to unplug it you need to take the tank off...

Study the clutch cover. Note that there are two bolts you can't get to, so...unbolt the starter gear cover and pull out the gears, dropping any spacers and washers before you have a chance to make note of their order.

Undo the crankcase cover and take it off. Note that unlike the 955i engine, which had o-rings, the 1050 has old-fashioned paper gaskets, of which you have none. Be relieved when the gasket comes off complete.

Undo the clutch cover. Note that there is acres of space around the clutch, and that there was no need at all to make the cover so big that you had to dismantle half the engine just to get it off. Be relieved to find that the sheet of gasket paper you bought twenty years ago is still here, and just about big enough...phew!

Rip out complete clutch. Note that there are cogs and stuff behind that you didn't know about. Cover house, desk and computer in oily fingerprints frantically trying to work out what goes where:eek: Install new (to me) clutch basket: Hold basket with knees while using both hands and a selection of pointy objects trying to line up everything behind the basket.

Have a fag and a shout.

Refit inner basket. Note that bearing for inner basket seems to have swelled up in the 5 minutes it's been laying on the workbench. Tap home bearing gently, then less gently, then stop fannying around and smack the bastard. Refit clutch plates, reward yourself with smug points for actually remembering which way in they were supposed to go. Then take them out and soak them in oil like it says in the manual...have a cuppa.

Refit all covers in the order they were removed. Start the engi....STOP THE ENGINE...replace sump plug and refill the oil. Remind yourself to get a funnel at your earliest convenience. Start the engine, operate clutch lever a few times and adjust to suit. Select first gear and let the clutch out slowly. Note that despite the bike being on the centre stand, the bike is actually trying to shoot forward. Remember that the rear shock is still in the back of your van...Note time, decide to go for a pint:yes:
